Vietnam has developed its wind power sector significantly, with many projects already in operation, contributing to the country's renewable energy supply.
Some notable projects include:
Bạc Liêu Wind Power Project: 99 MW capacity, Vietnam's first wind power project.
Phú Quý Wind Power Project: 20 MW capacity, supplying electricity to Phú Quý island district.
La Gàn Offshore Wind Project: Planned capacity of up to 3,500 MW, with an estimated investment of $10.5 billion.
Nam Bình Thuận and Thái Bình Wind Power Projects: Currently under research and development.
As of 2023, Vietnam's total wind power capacity reached 3,980 MW, with 84 projects already in commercial operation. However, more than 4,190 MW of capacity had yet to be put into operation as scheduled.
